although his popularity has dropped off abit, his coli fans have risen, wierd lol
He is in his golden age right now imo.
He doesn't really make commercial singles anymore, so his popularity with the general public has fallen. The last actual single he had with radio in mind was Touch N You for GFID. He doesn't make Aston Martin Music or Hustlin or BMF anymore.
He's much more concerned with building actual albums now a days that are listened to straight through. His lyrics have improved. His beat selection has improved from PoM/Trilla days. He puts out material consistently. Nas gets more placement on his stuff then Drake nowadays and vice versa he gets placed on Nas stuff more then he does Drake stuff. If that's not an indicator of where his music has gone I'm not sure what is. His subject matter recently has a pro-black streak in it without being overbearing to the point of pushing people away who just want to listen to his stuff to feel rich. He's successfully navigated several high profile beefs despite his street cred baggage (being a former C.O.). He comes off as someone with extremely high work ethic who loves hip hop. He's a successful business man. All of this appeals more to forum nikkas then it does the general public.
If you just forget that Hood Billionaire ever happened, it's really just been one long golden era ever since he released DTR.
