Ross shyt ain't in Walmart breh. This deal was for MMG not Ross. Ross can go Indy but he doesn't have the cash and strings to support his MMG. Think Gunit and why they can't even put out one album.
You are off base. iTunes has been the largest retailer of music for the past 8 years or so. You need a label for connections, quality and the ability to market songs to radio and shows. Selling albums isn't the name of the game anymore.

he been epic since beƒore bobby and the hype this year
He's still there though.

Y'all hate every major. They're a necessary evil if your goal is to one day blow up and be famous. If your goal is solely to make a living off music then fine but we all know most rappers wanna blow up

I agree with you 100% but MMG by itself can't do it. They need a major to put that in motion. Corps basically finally figured out how to make money off of Napster business plan. It's pay to play breh. 50 cent is finding out the hard way.

You need labels for distribution. How are you gonna sell albums if its not at Best Buy or Walmart? And whose gonna press the physicals? Mainstream artists need labels, while indy artists can stick with digital because their shyt ain't in Walmart anyways.
I can't believe people still buy CD's but it's indeed a real thing.. but Ross doesnt need a major for that, E1(Koch) and companies like that would jump at a chance to distribute that, and BB and WM would make shelf space for a dude who hasn't even fallen off all the way yet. It's Rick Ross, not Chingy

Nah. I own the hood billionaire cd. Its got the slip n slide logo on it,
I never understood that situation, cuz SNS been on every Rick Ross album, but I didn't know if he was still under them or if it was just a formality (some artists will still put a logo of a label they used to be on, but they're not under contract or anything-- I remember Talib Kweli had a situation like that with Rawkus)
