But I mean I'm not really trying to die on this hill, because I don't really like Rick Rubin. For non music reasons too. He seemed like he was dipping his toes into the alt-right scene, and fukk that. And even beyond possibly being a right wing nut job I've always thought that he was pretentious and that a lot of his music was overrated.

There's people out there that seem like outliers in the field but are incredibly effective. I think his peers vouching for him are enough.

Kind of like a good coach or assistant that wasn't a good player beforehand, putting it in another way.

Yeah I get what you mean. I was just under impression that you could walk into the studio and Rick would have a track/beat ready for you.

I mean he works with chilli peppers who make all the music and he just says when to reduce/add things. I mean I can't make a beat but would love to be in the studio adding my 2 cent after Flea, Frusciante, Chad and Anthony cook up a whole album.

I cant co-sign this man as a GOAT producer for those set of skills. I appreciate it but nah he isn't GOAT level.

People's idea of "producing" is skewed because of hip-hop.
If you think producing is programming, sequencing, playing instruments or composing music, you're incorrect.

Personally I won’t take away any accolades or achievements that Rick Rubin has as a producer….He Damn well deserves to be recognized for his producing and production skills and his contributions to HipHop! Unless u nikkaz haven’t heard of the Def Jam LP’s….License To Ill and Radio along with the Profile releases of Run-Dmc’s…King of Rock and Raising Hell…then I suggest u nikkaz go learn some HipHop history on who this man is…..nikkaz!

If u know Rick Rubin’s sound,then u know that his production skills are all over that track….the hard rock guitar riff,the Billy Squire Big Beat sample,the scratching..…Signature Rick Rubin sound and didn’t use the heavy bass driven 808 that he’s also known for! Go learn something cuz!
