Underground hip hop these days sucks, i dont even want to get into it too much but it sucks unless its produced by alchemist or one of those other charity producers
Everyone hates on mainstream but no one really takes a minute to actually listen to the music objectively. In most popular mainstream hip hop songs in the year 2013, atleast one, if not all, of the artists on one of those tracks goes IN. Its almost a law now. Meanwhile on the underground we're biggin up this artist because of his subject matter and because his production has no trap influence and therefore is pure and real music. But does he go in, or does he just flow on monotinously? Ive found most underground rappers lack that aspect, where they can just snap on a beat on the drop of a dime. They also all are uncaptivating as characters, and ultimately they dont have enough appeal to keep me interested in their development
Ok, for example we have the migos. Everyone thinks theyre dikk, but if you think about it and listen to their music, i think as rappers theyre fresh as hell. First off the hook game is just ridiculous, they go off on every verse, and they drop hot ass bars, the shyt they say is just fresh as hell i.e. "Pardon me, sorry, might pull up in that 'Rari". Thats real as fukk, just think about it, he says it like its a minor thing, like you say pardon me when you bump someone, but no this nikka pullin up in a fukkin rari. Thats real shyt. No underground rappers come with that type of entertaining/real ass lines. Then take drake for example, does he not snap on every song he does now? Regardless of whether or not what hes saying is gay as hell, does he not try to wreck every beat he does? The common theme here is that pretty much all mainstream artists are there for a reason, its because they put work in and spit la flames. Underground rappers dont make it because theyre not as captivating and their music is lower quality, thus mainstream is better.
