at this nikka @Christopher browns ridiculous standards of what hit is. I immediately question how old is he because he don't really keep up with the billboard charts like that if that's his standard. IMO when it comes to overall genre specific charts like the "Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs", "Rhythmic", "Mainstream Top 40/Hot Pop Songs", "Hot Rock Songs", "Hot Country Songs", & etc. A song that peaks in the Top 10 is a hit. While a song that peaked from 20-11 is a minor hit.
I've never thought about the Hot 100 (Which is the overall music chart), But Top 40 makes sense. I'd say Top 20 is a hit. 40-21 is a minor hit.

but it ain't gettin' the spins that many other rihanna tracks have gotten in the past

I was just referring to hot 100. But your classification is on point and I'd agree. There are some exceptions, like Rick Ross bmf is a hit in my opinion but I think it only peaked in the 60s. What I've heard is a song in the top 10 makes you enough money yo set you up for life. While a song in the top 40 will make you some decent paper
