People gotta stop hating on Hov so much.

Most Hip Hop covers are inspired by other photos, artwork or covers. He's spoken on where he got it from many times. His success doesn't make him except from doing what literally every other artist does. If The Blueprint dropped on Def Jux and sold 15,000 copies, nobody would care. Jean Grae and 9th took 4 different covers from Hip Hop classics and used them for the Jeanius cover and people thought it was so "creative". Most Hip Hop classics have artwork pulled from other sources. Jay does it, and it's "stealing".

The hate is so blatant now. It's corny.

It's facts that he "stole" an album cover he gave credit to the original source for?

So everyone that's done it in the past 40+ years of Hip Hop covers is "stealing" too? LOL!!

Someone is a d*ck rider for calling out bullsh*t and not joining in on the hate? Y'all dudes is crazy on here.

@Blessed Koala

To clarify, I meant Young Chris’ whisper flow is what came after BP. The young Chris influence that people would later hear—-which is 100% valid——is not present on BP. At ALL.

The chronology:

-Rocafella freestyles- January 2001 (not 2000)
-BP- September 2001, Izzo and summer jam were in the summer, so album likely recorded spring 2001. No Chris influence
-Best of both worlds- March 2002. I mention this bc it was well after BP yet jay still didn’t sound like Chris. Jay didn’t sound like Chris until….
-Murda Marcyville (Originally known as SOUTH PHILLY nikkaZ, which implies Jay was fully aware of what he was doin)- Summer 2002
-Also keep in mind jay went off this summer with Addicted to the game, early this morning, people talkin, featured on Guess who’s back., don’t you know, Europe freestyle…. Still doesn’t ‘sound like Chris’.
-Then we’re flooded with official Chris music:
State property album- May 2002
Dream Team/Paid in Full soundtrack- October 2002
-Blueprint 2- November 2002. I still don’t hear the Chris influence but Jay does ‘fall off’ flow wise. Jay features Young Chris by himself. Jay rarely featured 1 artist by himself on his albums at this time. He clearly fw Chris heavy.
-State Prop Vol 2- August 2003.
-Tough Luv/ Better love single run- Feb 2004.
^^ Peak level Young Chris

-Jay with his most Chris sounding song It’s On- 2004 :patrice:

Bottom line Jay stealing/borrowing/being influenced by Chris whatever you wanna call it came after BP, and wasn’t used consistently until YEARS later
