RIP to him and condolences to his family. I wasn't alive during that time, and I did watch the 30 for 30 in the late 2000s, but dude was really a pop culture phenomenon. The 1st time I heard of him was on one of VH1's "I Love the 80s" episodes.

Nando got overworked though. Both him and Orel Hershiser looked like future HOFers after 6 seasons, but their performances dropped off. Orel threw 170 pitches in the 89’ season finale and tore his shoulder and was never really the same again.

Tommy Lasorda drew some criticism, even in that era, for overworking his pitchers.

It’s may have been a blessing in disguise that the Dodgers traded Pedro. We may have not gotten to see him be historically great if he got overused too.
