Goatganda the pearl of Africa
Yep played with his sons, and his game was still physical as a grandpa

Always remember his quote hes a proponent of religious hockey, its better to give than receive

I'm bilingual English and profanity :heh:

His last season in the league,he was 52 years old and he played 80 games that season....thats amazing.

It wasnt like he signed a 1 day or 10 day contract and contributed nothing either,he had 15 goals/40 points that season...

Damn man all the OGs dying in '16 ...

damn, 2016 has been :whoo: on legends

We are going to look back at 2016 as a "changing of the guard" year. Think about it, the passing of Mr. Ali & now Mr. Howe pretty much puts a ribbon on the World War 2/ Cold War chapter in sports. Mantle & Unitas have been resting for some times, and when the ravages of life claims Mays, Aaron, & Russell, it will officially be over.

An era of greats who became household names prior to a television set existing in virtually every home and coast-to-coast broadcasting. This only shows how larger than life these men were given that their exposure was what we would consider today limited.

And amazingly enough, the first of the new chapter of what I would consider the "Contemporary athlete" era contained the names Magic, Bird, Montana, Gretzky, Jordan, Tyson, Messier, LT, Marino, Rice, Bonds, not to mention 2 men who if not for their human faults would have been historic to America's pastime, Gooden & Strawberry.

Two of the GOAT eras in North American sports.
