I was a John Forte fan. I thought he was super dope and talented. Don’t know if was mentioned but he dated Lauren. He had a brief time of popularity in the industry in fact during the era when Joe Forte (not related) was balling at UNC people often called him John by mistake. His album was highly anticipated and although it was good it didn’t propel him to stardom as an artist. It was a disappointment due to industry/label politics. IIRC that album was severely pushed back.
Forte was nominated for a Grammy at just 21 years of age. Sadly he may have received the most attention for his 7 year incarceration.
RIP to a true talent.
