RIP indeed but let's not start to lying just because the man is dead. Contentwise he's by far the worst, does maybe one quick look a month and hosts Unprofessional Fridays and Bombcast (on which is talks little when it comes to games)

He was more of a manager, booking guests and hotel for E3 and stuff like that, than a reviewer/journalist last 2-3 year.

But it will be interesting to see what they do, they started the year with 8 on staff and are now 5

It takes a whole lot to basically be the mastermind behind the site. Gerstmann was a blogger after he was let go by Gamespot. It was after Ryan left Gamespot that things started rolling.

It will be interesting to see how this goes, I actually think Vinny will be the best host of the podcast going forward. We will see what what happens this Tuesday.

At this point, I got some questions about just what level of fukkboy Jeff Bakalar is. Even through all of the original guys leaving/getting fired, Ryckert bouncing twice now, them firing most of the staff twice, and basically putting the brand on an iron lung, creh has not only been safe each time, but even got promoted. shyt is wild.

I just started back listening to it late last yr, and stay a few wks back on some podcasts so I always got something to listen to at work. I’m glad I saw the news or it woulda been awkward some time next month

Yeah i dunno he was on a Nextlander podcast recently sounding like he was going through it due Fandom management making his job impossible. But i also get the feeling he had some involvement in Gerstmann getting fired. That whole situation was weird and shady.

But to be fair to him he actually got Giant Bomb in a good place after Gerstmann went. Bringing Dan back and hiring Grubb gave the site some extra life but a site like Giant Bomb just isn't gonna survive in a corporate environment anymore. So they've been fighting for their life ever since they got bought by CBS and have changed owners a couple of times since. It's amazing they survived this long.

Nothing lasts forever. Once Jeff left it should've been done there. I stopped listening once the Beast crew took off. I never paid attention to the actual website though. These things are corporate entities once u get rid of the creators.

Nah, I'm not with you on that one. Once you know what you are getting into - a big pro-Nintendo bias and a big anti-Playstation bias and the wider IGN shilling, then I enjoy the oldhead perspectives and reminiscing that you don't get in other podcasts outside of maybe Jeff Gerstmann, but he is hella cranky.

Basically my weekly gaming podcasts are:

Kinda Funny - broad appeal, general gaming analysis with a wide variety of personalities. Some entertaining live stream stuff as well.
Minnmax - best gaming analysis stuff by far, and great smaller game rec stuff.
IGN Scoop - old head perspectives that you don't get elsewhere.
Friends Per Second - completely forget about this one because their release schedule is pretty random, but very solid gaming analysis as well, albiet more focused on shooters/action-based AAA stuff.
