I understand ya arguments when it comes to our culture. How passionate ya are when it comes to BET, Hot 97, Power 105.1 and other radio stations. And how much it's dumbin down the youngins. Plus pushing agendas and all. I use to be that dude too. Don't get me wrong I hate this era just as much as most of ya. But seriously fukk it. What I mean by that is do u. It's so much music out there. And the culture is alive and well. It's sad that we have to dig for it. But it's fun to me. Hell I thank this shytty music for helping me find better music. Just ignore the shyt if they like that music then that's them. If they're missing out on classics then so be it. It is what it is. Stop complaining and do u.

Same fukking thread rehashed as always. White people arent "taking" over Black music. Iggy has one single popping. Did yall even look at the charts, she sold like 200k so far. She'll cruise to gold, maybe plat (depending on her next single and thats about it). She wont even be around long. Nobody knows who the fukk riff raff and g-eazy are outside of the internet. Yall know I always ride for my people but this thread is uncalled for. Timberlake and Em are gonna sell anyway. So stop the overreacting. John Legend just went gold with no type of label push. Urban contemporary radio (like Wbls) always plays his songs. If it weren't for the those type of stations dude would of bricked. Joe, Jaheim, Tamar and plenty of other R&B artists put out good music last year and did respectable numbers. Yall know how artists from any genre went plat in 2013 or 2014? Not many but yall just assume shyt without checking the facts. There is Soul music out there but the labels aint putting money behind. You gotta watch Vh1 Soul or Centric to see it.

:salute:

Sadly, we don't discuss these artists enough. I still applaud John Legend for releasing a song like "All of Me" in the midst of everything else that's out there. The bad part about it is that because it's successful, people claim he's making songs for white people. Really? "All of Me" is classic John Legend. It's reminiscent of "Ordinary People". There's several R&B artists who continue to create good music. The music is there. More effort just has to be put in finding the good music and not letting the radio and television dictate what's hot.

The thing that struck me was the complete lack of variety in the music, and the total lack of quality compared to other awards shows. When you're editing every other word it becomes impossible to be a good TV performance (Wayne). Likewise you had Chris Brown and Usher lip syncing, Aiko showing she couldn't sing, etc.

Yall know why Ritchie didn't perform? Because no one watching knew who he was. If he got an award at the Grammys or AMAs he'd get to perform because there would be plenty of white people and older black people watching who love his music. Not black 16-25 year olds who think music 3 years old are "throwback tracks."

Don't be mad at Iggy or Thicke for, they aren't the problem. The problem is a generation that has been raised to not appreciate music, and instead treat it like fast food. And BET has played a major role in this. This is a generation that literally views non rap/rap r&b as "white music." Usher released an old school, great sounding r&b record that can't get major play on urban radio right now because it doesn't feature a rapper, a Mustard beat, or any flash.

Richie did perform but Chris rock said he should have performed zoom since his mom had to sit thru all those rappers

Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Denied by T.I.'s Wife
on the BET Awards Red Carpet

Floyd Mayweather Jr. tried to re-connect with rapper T.I.’s wife on the red carpet of the BET Awards, but she was having none of it … possibly to avoid another Floyd/T.I. brawl.

Tiny was doing an interview on the red carpet Sunday night when Floyd came rolling by with his girl. He tried to get her attention — calling her name and trying to grab her elbow — but she ignored him and just hightailed it out of there.

It’s amazing that Floyd would do this, since … as TMZ previously reported … it was Floyd’s relationship with Tiny that set off the Floyd/T.I. fight at Fatburger in Las Vegas last month.

Basically, if you let shows dictate the culture, the networks aren't the problem. Tuning in gives them the ratings. So by tuning in, you're helping the "travesty" which defeats the purpose of complaining when disappointed with the acts, network, performances, and the antics.

once again why don't you read

its not just about the show

its the music as a whole, there is no more black music

She looks like an orphan cabbage patch kid...but Tiny's loyalty is second to none. She loves her man like Andy's toys loved him in Toy Story.
