FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (Somerset) — Authorities have identified the man shot and killed at Somerset Street's Nu Trendz Hair Salon Sunday as 28-year-old Eric Andrews Jr. of New Brunswick.

Responding officers found Andrews and he was transported to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Trauma Center, where he died, according to the announcement.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene to initiate an investigation, according to the announcement, which was issued by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald and Franklin Township Chief of Police Lawrence Roberts.
News 12 reports Andrews was also known as E-9, and was part of a rap duo along with longtime friend George Opoku, also known as 6FO. The two were scheduled to perform at SOB's in New York on Tuesday.
News 12 quoted a friend of Andrews' saying he was shot after an argument at Nu Trendz — but authorities have not made any statement about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The two rappers had performed alongside larger artists — including rap superstar Waka Flocka Fame for the song "M.O.N.E.Y."
