Truly a great dude. Always brought levity to our wild Knicks threads back then. It’s funny cause i spent years thinking he was a white dude until i asked him.

Those threads were some of the funniest, most inaccurate threads on the internet. "Eddie Curry could easily end up as the GOAT playing next to Starbury." What the hell were we thinking? Everyone clowned on the Knicks back then, for good reason. But Mel would let us make and bump our "If the Knicks finish 23-2 they could be the 8 seed that the Pistons don't want to face" threads. It's funny because SOHH was where I learned to post on the internet, and I think a lot of us vets developed a posting style that gets you banned on just about every other site out there these days. Mel was always above that, but he probably had to leave it behind as he got older and did more professional work. I get it.

I remember your name from SOHH.

Mel bringing back the OGs in his death.

RIP to the Knicks Tape OG before Knicks Tape was a thing.:mjcry:

Late reply. Very very very sad news. A piece of the OG Coli dies with Mel. My dad almost died of a heart attack last year so it’s truly some scary shyt. You never know what’s lurking until it’s too late sometimes. Coli brehs think of your health, there’s nothing worse than being in a situation like that.

I echo all the sentiments in here regarding Mel. Very classy dude, knowledgeable, some brehs in here mentioned he grew up rough in BK and I figure that would make sense since we all would be acting wild on some fukkery shyt but Mel was always grounded, a very sobering voice of reason. We would troll and make fun of this proper decorum being shown in a mad house. But he never got super offended by it, and even among the trolls there was a level of respect simply for how cool he was.

My condolences to MelYeah and all his loved ones. Same for Norton G. Nubuck. All y’all SOHH/Coli brehs we go at it on here, we burn time on here, but y’all are great and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

First off, RIP MelYeah, Orange all day breh! :salute:

@Rell Lauren, @Loose you guys went to SU, what class?
I was Melyeah's year (96'), we lived in the same Freshman dorm. He was a super nerd when being a nerd had no ironic appeal. lol But like @NYC Rebel said dude was from the hood for real for real. Interesting story about how he impacted my life when I first met him:

Syracuse guarantees housing for Freshman, and we were in the only all Freshman dorm together but they were short on space and he had to live in this common room that was converted into a 4 bedroom when we first got there. Well, one Friday night within like the first couple of weeks of college heads were hanging out and maybe watching a movie in his room since it was so big. I am from a mostly Black town but I had it good compared to him, my Dad was a business owner and we lived in 4 bedroom house since I was like 10. But I guess because of that I had a need to be 'hood' or pretend to be more "street' than I actually was. And I actually did a lot of dumb shyt trying to prove myself in that regard. Anyway, you know how people bring pixs from home with them and he had a photo album with him taking pics with his people in this public housing apartment/hallway. I was looking through it and was surprised someone so nerdy was from the projects and I felt feelings of jealousy rising up in me. But I then came to my senses somewhat and realized how ass backwards my feelings were. It was strange and actually kinda started me rethinking my need to be respected in that regard. I mean I did go on to still be like that for years actually. But meeting him and seeing where he was from and how he at the time I thought acted opposite of that got me thinking about the error of my ways. Anyway, it's just strange what you remember most about a person and how benign interactions still make a big impact. That's life I guess.
We never hung out or even talked much after those Freshman introductions and yeah we were on SOHH and acknowledged we knew each other but only interacted once in awhile. But he was without even trying, pivotal to my upbringing. RIP brother.
