it just furthers strengthens this "alpha male" mentality, where if you aren't an alpha, consequently you will be a beta.
I don't think this is new though, shiiet, even look just through hiphop this Alpha/Beta, I'm gonna fukk your bytch type mentality has been there since the beginning. it's not new. But this "toxic masculinity"that is rising is making these divisions stronger. it's making this binary thinking. you are either A or B, nothing else.
This binary thinking is becoming stronger and stronger everyday and is a reflection of our overall society.
I came in here wanting to hate, but this absolutely right.
I think the worst examples are prison and the hood. What are these gangs really fighting over?
I remember being young in the hood, and there is so much pressure to behave a certain way. If you didn't fight for your race, even if you were cool with all people, you were seen as a coward and a fakkit. Or when my friends put in work or robbed people and houses, if I didn't participate, I was seen as bytch-made or a square. I didn't want to do dirt or crime, but consequences of being seen as a "bytch" or a coward were actually worse.
I remember I stole some dudes bike, Somebody that nobody liked, and everyone was giving me respect and saying "yo, this dude is crazy!". If you're from the hood, you that's always a good thing to hear. To this day, I feel bad about taking that guys bike.
And I regret fighting people over trivial things. Even I lost a fight, I still gained more respect just for fighting and not going like a "bytch".
In high school, I broke a lot of girl's heart. I tried to have multiple girls at once. All so I could.brag about and feel good about myself. I almost lost my wife and all my kids because I had this attitude all the up to my early 30s.
It's hard to deny however. When you fight people and dominate women, you get respect, and that feels really good.
