My homie put me on dude. Great album.. I was surprised he hails from Houston because his style seems straight Detroit or Chicago..

He's more of NY-based. He went to college there and became friends with Bilal. Through him, he got to work with the whole Questlove, Mos Def, Q-Tip, Dilla, Badu, Kanye (at the time) crowd.

I saw him a couple times live - with Laylah Hathaway and Erykah Badu- and he got a nice modern band. He also tours with a straight jazz quartet.

full on jazz. the nikka plays the keys and composes and shyt. then he does side projects doing hip hop interpolations and whatnot. a lot of the stuff eople hype up is like kinda hiip hop/jazz fusion. from youtube, his live shows seem to be where he goes off.

this is music my friends. you got heads on here styling because drake beat nas in the grammy's...yeah it wouldve been nice for nas to get his shine...but doesnt take away from the quality of music.
