Man fukk Lauryn Hill. We did a show w her a few years ago, she was thr headliner and still showed up late, even though call time was 3 hours before her set. Every time we called her tour manager they were like

she even seemed mentally unstable on Dave Chappelles Block Party so I don't judge her

I feel what he said is his opinion, from a hating ass jazz musician. And since he considers himself a jazz musician at heart, Id call him chicken hearted. From what I’ve known about Lauryn Hill from other bandmates that have been on the road with her, yes she has problems but it’s mostly confidence related. She’s called crazy rehearsal times and will be late, she never could decide on what to wear so she’d have a million different wardrobe changes BEFORE the show. More or less from their descriptions of her, I gathered she was/is emotionally unstable, maybe indirectly because of her success. All in all, she’s way beyond talented so to say she stole this and that is just nikkas trying to shyt on her.
That’s her MO but truth be told, other artists are the same, just not as bad as her. I remember Badu was caught taking a Calgon bath with candles and shyt in her hotel room when she was suppose to be ON STAGE already performing. That’s just how some of these singers are.
So every opening act has performed, the dj is trying to distract the restless crowd, who is going from bored to annoyed the next step is anger. The dj got booed off stage, the crowd is slowly thinning out and its one thrown chair away from a riot. Lauryn comes in a rush, they do what should have been a 60 minute set in 20 minutes cuz shes doing a double time chipmunk version of the greatest hits... With totally different arrangements... They dont even sound like the same songs.
Crowd starts leaving en masse during performance, they want refunds etc. Im a businessman but im a street person and when u fukk w my business side you meet the street side. Without too much details, the tour manager wasnt going anywhere until he straightened this out.
After my interrogation/negotiation, come to find out she turned her tour bus around on 95 halfway to the show to get her nails done! ! !Once i realized shes a madwoman and its not a hustle i kind of felt bad for the breh.
I just get tired of non humble jazz musicians. John Coltrane wouldn’t have been shytting on someone. In fact, most critics, just like with lauryn, shytted on him and all the directions he took.
