Robert Townsend was underrated.

I always thought Hollywood Shuffle would be Townsend's most memorable movie, but it’s really The Five Heartbeats. I still can't get over how poorly The Five Heartbeats was received by critics back in the day. I just checked Rotten Tomatoes and it still only has a 39% critic score.

I never knew this. I’ve never heard cacs even speak on 5 hb before either. Not suprised by the negative rating. It’s a soulful movie, and cacs have none.

This. CACs in general underrate Black movies because they have no understanding of the Black experience.

But yea Robert Townsend is hella underrated no one talks about how dope that Carmen Jones MTV movie was either.
