Roc Nation Records has laid off several senior-level executives, Billboardh as confirmed with sources.

Those let go include senior vp promotion Azim Rashid, senior vp A&R Orlando McGhee, marketing exec Gita Williams and senior director publicity Fairley McCaskill. These exits follow that of label president Benny Pough, who departed the label in March after nearly 18 months in that post.

Roc Nation’s current label roster includes Rihanna, J. Cole, Rapsody, Belly and Vic Mensa, as well as emerging artists Nicole Bus and Angelica Vila, among others.

nah, I don't. I just come on here and drop the real when I can.

The original "lay-off" headline was the spin, they quickly corrected it to let it be known they fired them.
All their positions are being immediately filled.

Cool. But filling positions with younger people that you can pay a fraction of the senior execs that you fired is also a cost cutting move...

you're right, but if you're paying inflated salaries to people not getting results anymore, are you in bad shape for paying a more capable person a more reasonable salary?

A lot of these old execs getting paid off cronyism/nepotism and what they did 10-20 years ago. They suck as modern execs.

Roc Nation doesn't have the finances of a major label/management company, they have to be smarter, trim the fat and stay lean, to be able to compete with them.

Definitely agree with the bold. I always wonder why we haven't seen any new young moguls like Puff, P, Dame, Rza etc come out of the internet era. Seems like it would be much easier now than it was back then. I assume its cuz the old gatekeepers are locking them out. Closest thing was Tyler the Creator lol...
