MC Serch has admitted on Combat Jack that Serchlite Publishing didn’t even exist at the time and that Nas got one of the best deals for a new artist at that time.

Takeover has 2 blatant and ridiculous lies “you say you been in it ten I been in it five” :what:

Jay had the name of the company wrong, but he did in fact pay MC Serch 2k to clear the sample, not Nas.

Serch sold Nas's publishing to Zomba for 125k and he stayed on to administer his publishing.

And you got the podcast wrong.

It was Juan Ep, not Combat Jack.

As far as the been in it 10, been in it 5 line.

Jay was talking about the time from their 1st appearances.

He fudged the math a little by starting his career at "In My Lifetime" his first official single, which dropped in '95.

But counted "Live at the BBQ", Nas's 1st ever appearance, which dropped in '91.

jay had to pay nas for sampling his voice. thats all that matters. "you aint get a coin" was a lie.

and no, jay was trying to fool the public by sayin "you been in ten, i been in it 5"
he chose his start date in 1996, reasonable doubt.
he shoulda started nas date in 1994, illmatic by that logic

jayz originally came out in the 80s lmao

How did he lie?

He didn't pay Nas.

Nas didn't own his publishing, Zomba did, so that's who he actually paid.

But he gave the money to MC Serch, who was representing Zomba, that's why he thought he was paying Serch's publishing company.

As far as the Jay came out in the 80s comment.

That's false.

Folks like to say he was on Hawaiian Sophie, but all he did was appear in the video and talk.

He didn't rhyme on the record.

Jay rhymed on the Originators which came out in 1990. Great record to.
