I don't like that they killed off Apollo...and the whole film felt rushed without much substance. I liked the first three better as well. However the workout scenes in 4 do get me motivated still hah.

They had a falling out.
When he was doing Rocky Balboa, he asked Carl if he could use his footage in the film. The story goes that he either wanted a part in the film, which Stallone refused, given the fact he's dead in series.
That's why if you notice when they do the flashbacks, all you see is the back of "Apollo" and no clear facial shots indicating it's actually Carl.

Rocky IV has a special place in my heart because it's actually the 1st Rocky movie I saw(due to my age). It sits in that special place most movies do when you see them as a kid. But Objectively after seeing 3, that one is better.
