Guessing the label isn't excited about a Terrace Martin helmed album from a guy who needs hits and chicks dancing. I'm not gonna hate on either....I fukk with Terrace heavily. I just don't think I go to him at this point when he needs hits to SURVIVE. Like if this shyt doesn't hit it's really a wrap.
I will say tho...I'm stunned more of these nursery rhyme "singers" don't tap in with actual songwriters more. SZA had Babyface in the studio during SOS and you could hear the elevation. Beyonce has had Saadiq recently. There's a benefit to bringing people in to help who can actually figure out melodies with you. Because when you really listen, NBA Youngboy and all these other dudes are rapping over the same piano chords and using the exact same melodies. You can't stand out like that and it reduces your odds at finding a hit.
In short bringing in Terrace helps but you need someone else in there too, for the pop/hit sensibilities.
