I've clowned Roland myself for the infomercial interview with a PRESIDENTIAL candidate Clinton, and for tapdancing on stage like a clown.
I heard and agreed with plenty of the criticisms, including him basically being pat of the public relations team of Democratic party.
I have NEVER heard the "he's talking down to people" charge levied at him until TN copped that plea. I know about all the coli -famous people and their activities via posts of their videos that end up on this forum . I was aware of who some of them were before my time here.but never followed any of them like that.
I think people have legit criticisms of RM based on his past behavior, but the invalid ones, like YC blatantly acting like he wrote something that he didn't ,are smokescreens. Also the continued use of language that paints people as "outsiders" is going to hurt their efforts. "Boule" language is more dangerous than the "non AA's shouldn't voice their opinion" comments. Technically a group can define itself however and determine whose opinions are relevant.......if they are consistent. RM's comment was about the inconsistency. YC ducked the issue.
"Boule" as a slur is now going to alienate AAs and is a trap waiting to happen. "Us" and "them" narratives within a group are dangerous. Yvette and Tone are college educated, at what point will people view them as outsiders, elites and boule? In the ab.aspectus thread about old money AA families, people were making comments about "Lebron James is in boule", so I 'm not sure that many know what the term really means, and it's become a (derisive)term for Black folks with money. If people are serious, it doesn't make sense to potentially alienate some of the people within your community . This scorched earth campaign..burning everything down is starting to turn inward
