But it was ok when they strapped the rocket to Bryan and had him go over multiple stables, Cena, etc. Got it.

Strapped the rocket to Bryan?? You mean after already wrestling multiple years prior to the WWE, being on NXT, losing almost at the same rate of Michael Tarver, getting fired, coming back and having a natural progression towards various titles in the WWE? That's not having the rocket strapped to you, that's old school booking that gets the fans on your side. I mean, if you're gonna be snarky, at least use a better example and actually be correct.

Bryan beats Cena 100% CLEAN in the center of the ring at Summerslam for the title. Wins the title again within 2 months. Goes to WM, beats HHH 100% CLEAN in the center of the ring, then wins in the main event against two guys, making a guy 3 times his size tap out. No rocket there, breh. Go check Bryan's win/loss record from April/May 2013 until he retired. He lost all of one match clean during that period. From the time he got super hot until he retired, Bryan was as protected as anyone ever, which is hilarious since all people remember is that he lost non stop from right after Summerslam 2013 to WM 30 even though he lost all of ONE match clean that entire time (to Bray at RR).

Yea genius, let's start at the point where he won the title, not what he did actually leading up to the title. Let's not remember him feuding with Miz over the US title, or feuding with Ziggler for the US title, embarrassing Bella twin segments, feuding with Sheamus, including their match being regulated to either a pre-show or dark match. Yea, let's completely look over his really good heel run during the "NO!" phase, then taking an 8 second L in the opening match at WM to Sheamus, basically being the catalyst for his WWE title run later. Then there's Team Hell No, which I'm guessing we should also look over huh? If that's considered having a rocket strapped to you, then I guess Punk and Austin had the rocket strapped to them too, even though they clearly paid dues with undercard titles/feuds before ascending to the upper card ranks. For a guy who claims to be all about wrestling history including having a site dedicated to wrestling, you (and others) sure don't seem to understand the concept of paying dues nor people being shoved down your throats. Also, a person's win/loss record isn't always a reflection of their standing. Bryan won a lot of matches, but how many times was he made to look like a total goof, or be secondary to a different program? A good amount.

You'd think they would get him another finisher other than the Pedigree, he's going to be landing on that knee nightly.

It was Seth's idea.

“The Pedigree was something that I feel very fortunate to have it as a finisher. A) because it has a built in response. Everybody knows that’s the end of the match for the most part because Hunter had done it for years and years and years. And there [are] only two guys in the history of the company who’ve done it: myself and Triple H. So that’s good company and it fit with what we were doing storyline-wise. So funny story, I texted Hunter about it when I had the idea and I was like, ‘hey, what would you think about me using The Pedigree?’ and he made some sort of like Hunter joke that I took as him, like, skirting around it, not wanting to say anything. And I was like, ‘hmmm, I’ve got an idea.’ So I went directly to Vince when we were looking for new finishers. I said, ‘Vince, what would you think about me using The Pedigree?’ and he did his Vince thing where he just sits and thinks about it for a minute and stares off and then he looked at me and he was like, ‘I love it. It’s great. It’s perfect. Fits right in with the story. That’s it.’ And I was like, ‘alright, I win! Excellent!’ So I kind of went around Hunter to get to him, but I don’t think he cares. At the end of the day, he’s going to retire and I did it as a tribute, as a way for his legacy to kind of live on in another generation.”

Uh....Team Hell No is what made Bryan a star. It was during that period when he started getting hot as fukk to the point where it couldn't be ignored, much like what Austin was doing in 1996/1997. During Team Hell No is when he was MERKING Shield on a weekly basis when no one else could get shyt on them, and being the focus of Smackdown. Team Hell No is the most important run he had in his entire career. That's like saying Austin was just a mid carder punk while shytting on Bret every week in 1996, and being the star of damn near every Raw in 1997 without even having a title.

From Team Hell No on, Bryan was ultra protected. Check his win/loss record. Bryan got put over by the god damn Undertaker on TV. Taker hadn't done a TV match in like 3 years and personally picked Team Hell No to be his partners against Shield, then did the Brothers of Destruction salute with him. We're pretending like Team Hell No was just mid card fluff now?

"Strapping a rocket" to someone has nothing to do with how long they've been in the company. It's how heavy their push gets once it happens. And Bryan's was massive from the Spring of 2013 until he retired.

The WWE did everything possible to push Bryan while trying to undercut him at the same time. They basically pushed him solely due to backlash, capitalized off of merchandise sales (which is natural for companies anyway), yet [successfully] leeching the Yes chants for other people, something they still do today. The only thing the WWE did right about Bryan was keeping him from further hurting himself as far as concussions go, yet, they're legit a reason why he had to retire in the first place. How do you have a guy fresh off either an injury or concussion involved in a MITB?? How do you have him wrestling reckless Sheamus and Ryback before that??? You may feel like he was protected, but he wasn't protected booking wise nor health wise. He was getting his legs taking out from him at every turn, with the most egregious one being attempting to turn him heel as Daniel Wyatt. That was a total failure and one of various ways they tried to stymie him, just cause they felt he was too popular and not due to the WWE themselves. They were forced for the second time to make him a face like two weeks later in that cage match, which he should have always been. So again, you and others will need to find better examples of guys getting the spotlight put on them. A rocket strapped to you isn't only about wins/losses, it's about how you're booked in relation to everybody else. Bryan won a lot yet was still made to look like a loser. Punk paid dues big time, had Cena's backing, and yet HHH made him look like a chump. Sorry ass Sheamus was feuding with Goldust, wins a battle royal, and becomes champ cause Cena weakly jumped into a table. THAT'S a guy who got a nuclear push for no reason, that's what a rocket is. Cena's won multiple world titles while rarely making people look good in the process. He's paid dues but was chosen in the first place, so he would have gotten every opportunity to succeed or fail, just like Reigns is currently.

Oh, you mean that angle that led to maybe Bryan's hottest moment ever outside of WM 30? Wow, so berried/

The angle after jobbing clean to Bray and was leading to Bryan being in Brays corner for WM 30 until Michigan State and Paul Levesque convincing Vince on the corporate jet

The angle was only dropped because of Michigan St & ESPN :heh:

So let me get this straight.

WWE never pushed Bryan, never wanted him, Vince had nothing to do with him headlining WM. Never strapped that rocket to his back, brother. Then caved to a college football team and decided "boy, we should push this guy" after they had been pushing him HARD for a year straight at that point.

Or you should pick up his book where he was said he was supposed to wrestle sheamus in the 4th match until CM Punk left :sas1:
