The WWE did everything possible to push Bryan while trying to undercut him at the same time. They basically pushed him solely due to backlash, capitalized off of merchandise sales (which is natural for companies anyway), yet [successfully] leeching the Yes chants for other people, something they still do today. The only thing the WWE did right about Bryan was keeping him from further hurting himself as far as concussions go, yet, they're legit a reason why he had to retire in the first place. How do you have a guy fresh off either an injury or concussion involved in a MITB?? How do you have him wrestling reckless Sheamus and Ryback before that??? You may feel like he was protected, but he wasn't protected booking wise nor health wise. He was getting his legs taking out from him at every turn, with the most egregious one being attempting to turn him heel as Daniel Wyatt. That was a total failure and one of various ways they tried to stymie him, just cause they felt he was too popular and not due to the WWE themselves. They were forced for the second time to make him a face like two weeks later in that cage match, which he should have always been. So again, you and others will need to find better examples of guys getting the spotlight put on them. A rocket strapped to you isn't only about wins/losses, it's about how you're booked in relation to everybody else. Bryan won a lot yet was still made to look like a loser. Punk paid dues big time, had Cena's backing, and yet HHH made him look like a chump. Sorry ass Sheamus was feuding with Goldust, wins a battle royal, and becomes champ cause Cena weakly jumped into a table. THAT'S a guy who got a nuclear push for no reason, that's what a rocket is. Cena's won multiple world titles while rarely making people look good in the process. He's paid dues but was chosen in the first place, so he would have gotten every opportunity to succeed or fail, just like Reigns is currently.
