Romantic Comedies: Most Useless Genre of all time?

some romantic comedies are good. it depends if its a chick flick or not.
I liked The 40 Year Old Virgin and that's a romantic comedy but its not a chick flick. I kinda liked 50 First Dates. again a romantic comedy but not a chick flick. Another romcom I liked was The Proposal and that's a borderline chick flick but its a romantic comedy.
Also chick flicks don't have to be romantic comedies at all. The Notebook is a chick flick. I tried to watch it and fell asleep in less than 30 mins.

40 Year Old Virgin feels more like a comedy that just has some romance elements in it. Never once did shyt get sappy in that movie.
That's a romantic comedy. A comedy that has a romance as a central plot element. Romantic comedies don't have to be sappy. Another movie that features the same actor and was a romantic comedy (and drama) is Crazy, Stupid, Love. I guess those get called dramedies.
