Yup. Just a few short years ago they had two superfights with Anderson Silva as the middleman; he could go up in weight to fight John Jones and could go down weight to fight George St. Pierre. The hype was ridiculous but they kept draggin they feet.
I still remember Silva's pre-fight interview before he got KTFO out by that whiteboy where he was talkin bout those superfights were still on the table and actin like this whiteboy was nothin
Next thing you know, he gets slept tryna play too much. So superfight delayed again bc he needs a rematch. Then he breaks his leg in the rematch... CTE-GSP also retires... and we all know what's been goin on with Coke Jones.
Complete travesty. basically the mma equivalent of mayweather/pacquao in 2 different weight classes, botched.

Silva wasn't gonna move down to 170, it was gonna be GSP moving up to 185, Silva trying to cut weight to 170 would have killed him. Neither of those fights were ever realistic anyway, GSP never gave serious signs he was moving up and Anderson didn't want to fight Jones, he had a few fights strategically picked for him at 205 but he was never gonna make a serious run at the title there.Yup.
