The public and private movements underline how far along DeSantis and his allies are in their preparation for the 2024 campaign, even as the Florida governor has not said publicly that he will enter the race.

Allies do not expect him to announce a run until after the Florida state legislative session ends in May. But in recent conversations, DeSantis has described his presidential plans without any caveats that would suggest he’s still deciding, according to the two people familiar with his comments who, like others interviewed for this story, spoke on the condition of anonymity to share private remarks.

In my opinion, he’s worse than Trump, because he’s smarter, and is more open with the racism. His campaign will be about ending wokeness, which is code for anything positive that involves non white people. Goodby affirmative action, any diversity initiatives, quotas, etc. They paint it as merit based, which is just their excuse to claim we’re not good enough, so they can keep us out of decent jobs. If he wins, the black community is finished. And our own actions aren’t helping either. GMB, babies out of wedlock, all this fighting, letting our kids run the streets, excusing crime, not helping.

Trump already tried to destroy all of that when he was in office so Desantis is not "smarter" he is just as bad.

"It being a tough sell" is just code for some of us truly do not understand adult issues. For this to be a tough sell, your ability to reason is compromised.

All Black people should vote against racist fascists at every turn. At the very least. Then if you have some other plan besides voting, do that in between time.

The GOP in general in America has become more reactionary than ever before. DeSantis will have us clinging to our civil rights if he ever gets elected.

You have a point. The deeper issue is the fact that every election cycle our Democracy seems to be on the line. That is not the sign of a stable country and this can only maintain for so long. Black people cannot keep saving the country from itself. We seem to be the only collective group that by and large votes in good conscious.

With that said Republicans are getting more extreme and we have to do everything in our power to keep them from power. But realitically its only a matter of time before they get back into power and put the final nail in the coffin when it comes to the American experiement. And you're right its really up to whites and Latinos. Two groups I have little faith in quite frankly.
