“ Sunday, Williams, who committed four of his six fouls against Laimbeer, called the Piston center “king of the floppers.”

Monday, the Blazer front line was still in full cry.

Did Laimbeer care?

“You see the big smirk on my face,” Laimbeer said, staying in character. “That’ll answer your question.”

Besides, someone’s flop is someone else’s good defense.

“They call it flopping,” said Pistons Coach Chuck Daly. “I call it courage.”

:mjlol:

I remember Laimbeer flopping messed with Kevin Duckworth’s head so much, he crashed out and had to play limited minutes the rest of the series :heh:

Threads like these and the great posters who make them are used to try and distract you from the fact that Michael Jordan is indeed the GOAT:lolbron:

It has been over 2 decades since he played and he has yet to be knocked off the throne.

The majority stopped calling Kareem the GOAT when MJ won his 1st MVP.

In this new era, several players have won it(MVP), some multiple times, yet folks are still like "still not better than Mike":yeshrug:

What the deal???? Y'all got Klutch media and bribe money to spread narrative that Bron is the GOAT. Mike just got a lil NBC gig. The shít still ain't working

He came back for more. :picard:

Just cause you played basketball doesn't mean that you understand basic statistics and how to google them on the most simple websites.

Note that when you take it as a percentage of points it gets even worse.

Too many of these old heads just say whatever the fukk they feel like, gain a bunch of likes by people who never fact checked anything in their life. And life goes on :yeshrug:

One thing I will say is that I wish there was a way to wipe away the extra noise. First lay me say that I do think Harper was right and wrong. I do think there is a lot more flopping in today's game, but I think there was a lot more ticky tack fouls called for the stars back in those days. Unfortunately in today's game if player's aren't flopping or forcing contact they aren't getting whistles. That shyt has been shown to work.

So the reason I think he's right and wrong is that in those days there was a lot more physicality in the play style. Meaning there was a lot more post ups and a lot more driving into contact versus the pace and space of today's game. So it makes sense for there to be more FTs per game then as the game was played at a slower more physical pace with defenders allowed to body up drivers a lot more. But it's stupid for Harper not to state that and to lie and say more FTs are being taken today than ever.

I could totally be talking out of my ass but it seems like in today's game there are more blowouts due to such a higher volume of three point shooting. With there being more blowouts there are longer stretches of garbage time as well as less end of game FTs that you see in closer games. Overall though who cares as old heads just need to enjoy what's happening on the court now instead of trying to make baseless statements trying to hype up their era.
