I don’t understand, what could they physically do to prevent a roof from collapsing?

Probably signs it was deteriorating over a period of time and they ignored it. Like the Greenfell fire in the UK with its cladding issues.

So this wasn't some hole in the wall like I thought seeing the headline. I kept thinking why would Octavia be up in some shytty juke joint........and the number of victims.........I was like this shyt has to he the biggest hole in the world to ever exist........knowing this was supposed to be a top notch wonder show type venue makes this shyt all the more egregious

Nah this was one of the hotspots in DR. That particular night, it was hosting a lot of the elites, doctors, lawyers, CEOs, ballplayers, etc. Some have speculated that it's the only reason that dude and his sister are being prosecuted; had this been a regular night with just regular 9-5 niiggas in there, they wouldn't have the political capital to demand justice. I think it was Pedro Martinez or David Ortiz who said something to the effect that if this had happened during the offseason, MLB would have lost a lot of players because they are often in that club.
