It can work, it's just all parties have to be upfront, honest, and respectful of each other. If the friendship is real you won't let monetary figures fukk up the bond. Plus it shouldn't take much to pay people what they're worth, it's just decent human being shyt. That should be just as simple as waking up in the morning or breathing.

The issue with this is really two-pronged because first of, he threw everyone overboard that ever chipped into helping make the podcast what it was (Marisa, Rory, Mal) and heavily disrespected them on the way out.

The second issue is he's already flamed out once before pulling this shyt with record labels. He got known as somebody other than that nikka with the dirty tank chasing after teenagers with rocks and got some money again, then decided to pull shyt with Complex, then Spotify who quietly kept it moving, now it's ballooned to destroying friendships of folks that were there when the money was slow and still gave up checks after the money was lost to keep shyt peaceful.

So it's not friends & business, this is why Joe Budden & business over the long haul don't work.
