The only time the US had a Laissez-Faire like capitalist system was during the Gilded Age before the great depression where wealth inequality was at its greatest and led to the Great Depression and the fix to many of the issues of the Great Depression were socialization programs such as Medicare, social security, and federal job and infrastructure programs.

We dont live in a homogeneous small country like Sweden. We got a crazy amount of differing religions, political philosophies, and ethnic groups.

The way this country is easily fractured and divided by the simplest of disagreements makes me scared that any party in power will use this expansion of state powers to punish their enemies and reward followers.

It sounds good now because you think a blue wave is sweeping in and itll be your guys in charge. But it only takes 2 to 4 years for everything to change.

You gotta think about the future of these things.
