we gotta promote educating ourselves and providing more resources for learning to get to all these kids before they become uninformed adults.

America’s education system is designed to keep the population dumbed down.

It also explains most TLR threads
It's even worse when you consider that Mississippi almost always ranks as the 2nd or 3rd worst state in the country for education metrics.

I think you'd get more reasonable answers if you asked teens from new jersey or Washington state or DC. I certainly don't expect them to start citing Djibouti or Togo, but these other states should at least know africa is a continent and maybe egypt and nigeria exist. :pachaha:

Wow. No way you’re a black man saying this.

I done told y’all FBA was patios. That’s insane to read on a black forum.
What I said isn't controversial. Anyone that's went to a public school in a bad/low income neighborhood already knows what I'm saying to be true. The young man in this video is wayyyyyy to old to not know that there are individual countries in Africa. That comes from systemic lack of knowledge within one's environment. Some little feel good after school course ain't gonna change that. Obviously he and folks like him don't pay attention to class during school you think they gonna show up when the bell rings and pay attention after:heh:

And that doesn't apply to just Black people, the sentiment is the same for West Virginia or Arkansas. It is what is

I'm not excusing them not knowing but Africa is frequently presented as one big area with a bunch of black people in it. This is particularly true when black american or even diasporans are encouraged to recconnect with it. So I'm not surprised at all that folks with a poor education think of it that way. Most of the time when you hear a distinction is when the news reports a story going on in a particular country.

I think that's why it's important for us to have our own supplemental education.
