Nah you don’t know shyt about boxing and Roy has CTE. Canelo got to the level he is at by being an expert counterpuncher, who can apply pressure on spots but he is not Marcos Maidana or Antonio Margarito. He is a boxer puncher who has never had very good stamina or work rate to be a brawler. Floyd beat him straight up because Floyd is superior in every area.

I recommend you watch more fights or join a gym so you can figure out what you are talking about.
A boxer can make adjustments. Asking a person 16 pounds heavier than his opponent to make the fight a phone booth fight is not asking Ali to be Foreman.

You're just upset someone knowledgeable has a critique of your mans.

Corrales, Castillo, Cotto, Canelo, Genaro Hernandez, Jose Chavez, Ricky Hatton, all prime or young champions when Floyd beat them all coming off victories.

There’s always excuses when it comes to Floyd like he wasn’t damn near 40 and fighting in his 4th or 5th weight class after starting his career at 130lbs.

Thank you

Roy Jones Jr resume is HBO flagship fighter status

Many of such events are merely showcases for the in-house fighter

Mayweather’s fight record is against the best of the division at the time

Kell Brook got skipped in favor of Andre Berto. That’s it

He also fought Robert Guerrero when returning after long lay off

He had a tough fight against Maidana and immediately ran it back

Mayweather is top 10, that’s fair. Arguably top 5 but best of our time certainly

On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.

:mjlol: Maidana was scored 114-112, 113-112 and that’s with a point deduction and a knock down. Maidana was chasing Khans around the ring and Khan was running for his life from the 10th to the 12th

Muthafukkas just says shyt like Maidana wasn’t cooking his ass the last half of the fight.

Beat me to it! Maidana was the tougher fight as we saw. Nobody was scared of Khan.

Yall are leaving out a critical detail. Floyd had a clear trend on how he selected his opponents. They typically came off an impressive win. This context matters.

Maidana landed the fight because he beat Broner, who was viewed to be the next big thing at the time. I believe Khan fought Julio Diaz, and was knocked down in the fight. That wasn’t going to land him a Floyd fight.

Khan never landed the Floyd or Pacquaio fight because he couldn’t step up and earn it. He tried to play it safe, like a lot of fighters tend to when there is a major draw in their division, and it backfired.

All yall Floyd haters are terrible and Roy is trippin/been having a problem with floyd for years just because of how his own career ended, breh shouldn't have let his ego get the best of him and drop weight that quickly. Even then if Roy was technically as sound as Floyd he could have still avoided those knockouts.

Roy Jones' assessment of Floyd where he completely ignores his pre-welterweight career to assess him as a fighter highlights what I've been saying for years. Floyd Mayweather is the only athlete in the HISTORY of sports to become a household name and megastar AFTER their prime was over. This man literally didn't become a household name until he beat De La Hoya in 2007, at the age of 30.......38 fights into his career and by then he already had a HOF resume at super featherweight, lightweight & super lightweight. It's almost like if we imagine a world where the first half of Jordan's career along with the first 3-peat took place when the NBA was only on tape delay and the second half of his career where he was slower, more crafty, added a fadeaway and had his 2nd 3-peat was the only thing people most people saw and remembered. That's Floyd. Mayweather had a HOF career before he ever became a welterweight and regardless of when he fought fighters, the fact that he was able to get through Canelo, Pacquiao, Mosley, Cotto, Maidana (2x), Guerrero unscathed AFTER his prime should actually be seen as a positive.

Floyd almost doesn't get credit because there was no noticeable drop-off in his skill level so people treat his the entirety of his career as 20 year prime/peak something no one else outside of Lebron James has to deal with. People will say he waited guys out as if he wasn't also getting older with a style that heavily relied on his speed and reflexes. No other athlete is judged based on what they did outside of their prime but the entirety of Floyd's perception is based on his post prime career when he moved up to Welterweight in his 30s in a division he really never had the frame for, had hand problems and still managed to dominate.
Close thread and this breh actually has watched fights/followed Floyd career:salute:

So Floyd did everything right and is beyond critique.

Before people found out Amir Khan had a glass jaw, he was calling out Floyd and Floyd said it wasn’t a big enough fight, only for Floyd to go fight lesser fighters.

Khan before the Danny Garcia knockout was a problem and a good fighter.

Floyd is an all-time great but the biggest names on his resume (Oscar, Shane, Cotto) were all out of their prime or at the very tail end after being beat. Pacquaio was an awful fight but he did win 12-0.

Roy is hating a little but anyone who knows boxing knows that once he went from Pretty Boy to Money Mayweather he became a lot more strategic in his matchmaking.

Pre 147 though Floyd fought anyone who wanted smoke and he was avoided by a lot of guys.
