Rick Rubin is overrated in hip hop convos. He's a legendary producer but hasn't been relevant to rap since the 80s IMO

That's the thing though 80s was the last time he was consistently involved with hip hop. But his records in that era were instrumental in hip hop music becoming as big as it did and still is.

Royce is a weird nikka... because he comes out of left field to dis legendary guys who are just mindin' their own business and livin' their lives... but he's also one of the most sensitive dudes when someone says anything he doesn't like about him and his boy. I feel like if you're gonna be out here tossin' your opinion into the air about people who weren't sayin' shyt about you, you gotta be able to take it when it comes back your way.

Like it or not you can't really front on what Rick Rubin did with Run-DMC, LL and the Beastie Boys in the 80s.

99 Problems was :whew: too
There was a lot of dope producers in the 80's. I don't hear anyone giving bomb squad or anyone else as much props as Rick gets given that he has largely been in inactive in hip hop for a long time.

How come nobody calls him washed or irrelevant?

I think he has a privilege of living off the past whereas Black people in the industry don't. Great producers that fell off because they were not "relevant" but guy you who hasn't made a hot beat in decades is on the Mount Rushmore list. shyt mad weird. Where's Easy Moe Bee and people like that? Let's be real.

Nobody's gonna dispute Rick Rubin gets more credit from white critics and mainstream culture because he's white and produced some of the biggest rock albums the last 30 years. Of course he does.

Just saying, it's overcorrection to deny he produced some of the most important albums as far as hip hop becoming as big as it is. That don't mean he's better than the Bomb Squad or Easy Mo Bee. Anyone who actually knows hip hop gives them their due too.

Don't wanna stan the man too hard but he legit changed the game and that rap-rock sound he invented was ahead of its time

That was invented by Larry Smith not Rick Rubin.

Royce don't understand, he's clueless and should shut up. He doesn't understand how hard it is to make classic timeless beats.

Rick Rubin is so fukking talented he got Country Grammy's just sitting out in his hall way. Like that type shyt! The shyt he does is bigger than just hiphop and I'm not on no c00n shyt but musically dude is gifted. Can't take it from him at all.

Same thing with Mike Dean who worked with selena prior to rap music.

So first he started talking about the music then he insinuates that Rick Rubin must have been doing drugs and engaging in the same behavior as Rusell.

He doesn't know that and it's not fair to assume. He didn't have to try to tear down Rubin to talk positively about Rusell smh.
