I figure most people know, but a 200k budget is far different from getting 200k.

And unlimited Dre beats doesn't mean shyt if you can't get a release date. Ask Rakim, Hitman, Raekwon, Joel Ortiz, Bishop Lamont, Stat Quo, Slim the Mobster, and a billion other solo acts that never got put on the shelf during their Aftermath tenures.

When Busta Rhymes was finally able to release The Big Bang in 2006 I was shocked. I was also shocked when Raekwon was able to use a few beats from Dre that he got during his time there when he finally released Linx 2.

What solo acts from Aftermath actually got used? Eminem, 50, Obie, Game, The Firm, Eve, and Truth Hurts? Can't be many more than that.

Wasn't Ice Cube signed to Aftermath at one point?

Stat Quo got alot of leaked songs with Dre production

eminem and 50 have trouble getting dre beats.

royce was smart for taking the $1M. given it took damn near 20 years between the last two dre albums, royce would still be waiting on those dre beats to this day if he would have went to aftermath.
If you have it, being with Dre is a lot better than being with Tommy boy.

No one who had it has ever failed with Dre, if they had it and failed with Dre why didn't they succeed when they left? And we have no idea about how the splits would look.

he probably wouldn't even drop on Aftermath since Em was getting all that exposure, he would've been on the shelf collecting dust which is the sad truth. he's still well respected for his pen game.

The possibility of being shelved on Aftermath was always high by any artist outside Em and 50...but, if Obie Trice got to drop an album, I dont see how Royce couldnt have.. but, u never know.

I dont think his decision was all that bad tho... not even a money level but just the idea of getting lost on Aftermath

i think Obie signed before Stat, that's why he had the chance to release an album. but his album got underlooked cause GRODT dropped, he's lucky he dropped. Stat's buzz was growing and even had some freestyles he recorded with Dre but he kept getting pushed back dude to Shady/Aftermath's involvement with 50's movement and G-Unit. i'm thinking he didn't have that appeal the people wanted i guess :yeshrug:

1 mill and a career as an underachieving underground rapper :hula: 200k budget with the very high possibility of being put on Dre's shelf despite being Em's boy

Dude never had a chance. Be a Slaughterhouse member brehs

surprised they didn't touch on Premo. As far as I'm concerned, all of Royce's best material is with DJ Premier. I can't name a single great song he's done with anyone else.

I watched this Yesterday. Tommy Boy was such a Trap though. Even at 21 Years Old though you gotta think like "Unlimited Dr. Dre Beats?"
