I know he at least wrote to the Xxplosive beat.."the way I be pimpin"...youtube it im on my phone

But when that shyt went down they scrapped that and rewrote it to the song we know today

yeah, he wrote "The Way I Be Pimpin", which was the o.g. version of "XXplosive" and "The Throne Is Mine" which was scrapped also.

both songs were kinda :yeshrug: so i'm not mad at them not making the album, but what really pissed me off back then was him getting on dre's bad side cost us hip-hop fans as it pretty much ended any hopes of royce signing with em and dre and them giving us the in their prime bad meets evil album we deserved instead of that horrible :flabbynsick: attempt they dropped in 2011. what could have been if only royce's manager kept his mouth shut. :ohlawd: and then royce had to ruin another relationship with a dope producer when he stole the two-track for "Heartbeat" from Kanye back in 2003 without paying him, ending the relationship with a rising kanye... SMH. royce's life is a trail of bad decisions.

and "the message" was such a jewel yet dre had little to do with it other than wrestling the beat away from lord finesse's personal stash. typical dre...

i thought this was gonna be about the people he wrote for sounding just like him...but this is stupid

same. like the "tell me" feat christina aguilera...diddy flows just like royce on that track.

I never knew Royce was meant to be on 2001.

Did they still use him as a ghost writer or did they completely scrap him from the project?

And if he was on 2001, what did he write?

he was suppose to b on that xxplosive joint

there is an OG song with him on the hook floating around somewhere

I wouldn't say he stole it

what happened was....
  • he rapped over the heartbeat instrumental
  • the label leaked the song
  • kanye got mad because a big name rapper (was prepared to pay 1 million for it)
  • royce claimed he did no wrong
  • kanye said he'll never give another beat to royce....EVER AGAIN

I wonder whether Kanye still feels that way

Didn't Scott Storch and some Chicano bass player guy produce half of 2001? Dre seems to be responsible for only half of his own output yet it takes him a decade to release each album.

and what did Scott Storch go on to make? fukkin Candy Shop? some Lil Kim songs? if he had so much input into 2001 then where the fukk is his Xxplosive or Still Dre? as for Mike Elizondo, i ask the same question, where is his 2001 album?

a million? :duck:

Royce says Jin (former Ruff Ryders artist) was gonna buy the beat

but he also says this was before the Blueprint album (2001) and I don't think that's possible cuz Jin didn't get on til like 03-04 ish

He has tons of beats using Dre's formula (that he actually came up with, not Dre) that are just as good as Dre's beats

Storch is like the king of sounding like Dre

Musically he easily topped the beats on 2001 throughout his career
He hasn't reached Dre's level of notoriety but beats-wise he has easily outdone Dre

Don't forget Mel-Man who co-produced every track except the Lord Finesse joint

I heard Dre was scuba diving for most of the 2001 sessions while Storch , the bass player and Mel Man created the music.
