While we're on the subject of rugby, Scotland just pasted Australia 53 -24 in what was genuinely the best performance I've ever seen from a Scotland team.

It’s not about the rules. Wearing helmets is the problem with CTE. NFL has much more aggressive tackling as a result of the face being covered, which results in head trauma. NFL should get rid of helmets altogether

Nah the rules are a part of it, in NFL you don't even really have to try and make a proper tackle, but in rugby its at least a penalty if you keep your arms down in the tackle, and we just saw a player sent off for it this weekend

NFL players get hurt delivering tackles all the time b/c they don't feel any need to try and protect themselves going into the collision

While their form of tackling is safer that's not the only thing. The pads in the NFL are used as weapons. Also in rugby everything is kept in front of you. Rarely will you ever take a blind-side hit, when you combine that with the lack of bad and form tackling it leads to less head injuries. I played rugby in high school and college and I can only recall once taking a bad hit and even that I saw coming. My teammate threw the ball high as shyt to me and I was the only one on my side, it was either jump catch it and get fukked up or don't catch let the other team get it and probably score. I caught it braced myself for the hit as much as possible and tbh it wasn't even that bad, didn't even get the wind knocked out of me or nothing. Where as when I was playing football in high school, I was on defense and damn near every 5 plays I had to watch for a crack block or a nikka on my own team knocking my off a tackle.

I think you have to remember the nature of football means ur going to have more unpreventable collisions cuz ur throwing the ball to receivers who dont see tackles coming.In rugby all the tackles you can see in front of you,ur not looking back to catch balls.Theres no throws to defenseless players...that has alot to do with why the hits arent as devastating and why they dont need helmets...
