It’s possible but I still see this as set up for a think piece on misogyny. It’s not like we’re allowed to say stuff like, ‘let us have our moment’ Notice they didn’t do this with Jane Foster’s Thor? And yes I understand Chadwick died, but imagine them not recasting Batman

One a side note though, I think it’s great that brehettes will be getting limelight cause there’s a bunch of young women that need to see themselves in this manner.

You can't compare Batman which has seen multiple actors play the role over decades to Black Panther. Chadwick was the only actor to play him so there's a different kind of emotional attachment.

It's real easy for fans to say just recast but if you're an executive it's not so simple. There would have been a ton of people saying "Disney doesn't care about Chadwick's death, they just want money" if they brought in a new actor. There were people attacking them when it was falsely reported that they had a meeting about what to with the franchise after he died. It's better to not look insensitive and avoid that PR nightmare. Some angry fanboys aren't a big deal.

Sounds like bullshyt. Why not scale up the number of Dora Milaje dolls? People always underestimate the buying power of women. That's why Rihanna is a billionaire. She saw a neglected market and swooped in. I wish I had the start-up funds to create women-oriented superhero merchandise. Most women who are into comic book culture have to buy men's stuff and cut it up to fit their bodies or they buy those male superhero bobbleheads cause their options are limited. So much untapped potential money.

How are y'all gonna react when Namor destroys Wakanda, kills Mbaku and fukks Shuri? :ahh:

A lot of jokes on this but if the leaks are true beyond what happens with Shuri and "other stuff" happens in this film then Coogler is basically destroying the franchise.

And maybe he wants to do just that and go back to doing smaller films.

Because T'Challa not being recasted for this specific film I still think was the right call. But getting rid of him totally would be like getting rid of Tony Stark, Peter Parker, Thor, Bruce Wayne, or Clark Kent. Forever.

Which they'd never do.

So they need to bring him back through time variants, cloning, or multiverse stuff.

Because he's an iconic character and Marvel and Coogler thinking that any random Black person can fill the job of Black panther and no one outside of a few fans will care shows a dismissiveness and disrespect that an iconic white comic character would never get.

John David Washington
Johnathan Majors
Michael B

Plenty of options to recast
JDW in every role he's done over the past few years :francis:

Majors is Kang

Michael B is Killmonger

Y'lan Noel would work though.

And he even looks like Chadwick

My first pick was Damson Idris. Ive been liking what Im seeing from Jonathan Majors also, but hes already in Marvel.

Not as if Marvel still cant bring Tchalla back in the next film. As a matter of fact they may have already recast him and people are mad for no reason. Could easily be in the post credit scene.

I have a daughter,so I will take her to see this. And shame on this articles attempt to blame black men for the low sales. And for bringing up black fathers and sons into something so trivial. I know its capitalism 101,but I dont like it:martin:.

They know fully well this will inspire think pieces about fragile black men. That will cause a ruckus on black twitter. Which will then get Black Panther trending. And possibly make women support it even more to prove a point. Its all about the algorithms and analyticals to create engagement. Works everytime like a charm:respect:

Damson Idris seems like the best pick and I've been putting his name out there too. I really hope he's on Disney's radar

Not even just that. Outside of Killmongers views he was allowed a level of masculinity that no other black man has had in the MCU

Tally all of the MCU black men and there's a pattern of passiveness and docile behavior

I enjoyed Falcon and the Winter Soldier but Sam was soft as hell and had far too much sympathy for that lil terrorist white bytch:russ: will always be in Steve's shadow, didn't make hard decisions

T'Challa was raw in Civil War but in Black Panther all that royal energy was gone

Rhodes has had moments (?) but for the most part is a good boy for Uncle Sam

None of these men have had anything close to resembling the assertiveness of Tony Stark and Steve Rogers, where they did/said shyt and made you deal with it

I'll count Fury as an exception but that's mainly because Samuel Jackson has transcended blackness inasmuch as people don't wanna see Samuel Jackson NOT being Samuel Jackson:russ:

It’s like tchalla acted like a king in civil war but acted like a prince in his own black panther movie.

This cool and all but Black Panther is a character in his own right. Chadwick may have done a good job bringing the character to life, but I don’t think his death warrants a nail in coffin for the mythos. And he definitely would have been recasted with almost any white character of equal importance

I also doubt he himself would have wanted this outcome
