What other games?
Mojang is a one hit wonder breh and if this deal is real then its being done with mobile as a top priority. People don't play Minecraft for the graphics.

I dont understand. Minecraft is a fad. A hugely succesful one, but a fad nonetheless. In 2-3 or less the world will have moved on.

This would rank around making as much sense as when they purchased nokia.

Don't understand this.

This would have been a good move 2 years ago. You know, before it hit PS3, and now PS4 AND Vita.

Plus, it's not like Minecraft being on PS platforms hurts MS in any way. Most Minecraft players are on PC or mobile devices. $2bil for exclusivity on future Minecraft just doesn't make sense.

I've never heard of anybody buying a system, switching from Mac to PC, or building a new rig entirely JUST for Minecraft. Microsoft going to have to monetize and microstransaction the fukk out of Minecraft 2 in order to make $2 billion back. Or even to just put a dent in it...

They need to hire back whoever was in charge during the OG Xbox and 360 days. Balmer and whoever is in charge now is fukking them over.

This move reeks of desperation and it shows they are trying to gain an audience that wont help them this gen or the next. What they need to do is take that 2 billion and try and tempt some of the disgruntled talent at a couple larger studios to come over to MS and head their own shyt. Hear some pitches on a handful of games and let them do their thing, without intrusion. You arent going to win a generation on the back of any single indie title especially one that will be available on PC as well. Indie companies will make games for your system as long as its easy to do and its in their best interest. What you need to do is make sure that next gen you have a solid lineup of 1st party developers that can show early adopters you mean business. Early adopters drum up hype, hype sells consoles to casuals, casuals buy lots of indie bullshyt, and now you dont have to pay them to make games for your system.

Build a videogame system first and foremost then hire intelligent programmers that can figure out how to get that app shyt to work within those confines, dont build an app machine and then expect developers to figure out how to maximize its output, because they wont.

Has nothing to do with exclusivity it's for the control of the ip. You can make movies games clothes etc. Microsoft is much bigger then just xbox.

What is desperate about this move though?

Its obviously a ton of money but if they see potential in the IP then why not pull the trigger. MS would probably get their money back faster with this then investing in studios in the Xbox Division to be honest with you. They could milk this shyt til there's nothing left like Game Freak is doing with Pokemon. Toys, games, and anything else that falls under entertainment.
