Just bought a Nexus 7 but I'll cop this to at that price.

Sounds like Microsoft is trying to make theirs a loss leader at the risk of screwing other windows 8 tablets that will reflect a price that are trying to make a profit on the hardware.

Yeah probably around 499$ lower than a Ultrabook thats for sure. Ultrabooks will drop to 799-999$ range next year.

This shyt WILL NOT be this cheap. I repeat IT WILL NOT be this cheap. This article is nothing more than an unsubstantiated rumor designed to pressure M$ into underpricing their hardware like Google does with the crap ware it sells. You see google can afford to do that because they are busy selling all of your private information to the highest bidder to recoup the manufacturing losses. M$ actually makes money via selling its own products, and not by stealing your private information and selling it to the government or advertisers.
Expect the RT to sell at a price point comparable with the ipad or higher. The Pro will be priced closer to 1,000 which is around ultrabook range. These items will be of high quality and will be priced accordingly. If you want a cheap disposable device that is made as cheaply as possible via slave labor, consider the Nexus 7.

Don't underestimate this rumor and price tag. The rumor for the Nokia Lumia was 99$ and it launched at 99$
MS is probably testing the rumor. The released a rumor at 199$ to see how many ppl will be interested in it. If the volume is correct they will launch at that price.
Why?
Its because MS needs good marketshare numbers to attract developers thats their #1 goal right now is apps in the ecosystem they want as many people to get their hands on a W8 device this fall. Firesell it at 199$ will boost the marketshare and MS will cut a short loss.
They can rebudget 1 billion into marketing into those losses its pretty much a marketing tactic for long term gains.
Don't pay attention to him as he is up to his troll act once again.
Engadget is not going to post something out there unless its a really strong source.
The $199 price tag might require to be locked into a 2 year contract with a provider...or maybe with xbox/gfwl @ $15 per month.
