More Evidence Points to PS2 Games on PS4 Thanks to Firmware Update 3.00 Beta

Yesterday, we let you know about a screenshot taken from the Live From PlayStation section on PlayStation 4, which hinted at PlayStation 2 games coming to PS4.

While the original poster took the image down and claimed it as a fake, we were contacted by a tipster who wished to remain anonymous, and pointed towards the PS4 3.00 firmware beta, where PS2 game War of the Monsters is shown being played on PS4. Also, as we included in the below gallery, Siren also appears on other people’s PS4’s:

Since Sony has yet to make any official announcements about PS2 games on PS4, treat all of this as rumor for now — though don’t be surprised if it’s the real deal given all we’ve seen and read so far. With PS4 firmware update 3.00 expected to launch in the coming weeks though, expect to know if this is real or not fairly soon.

Do you think PS2 games compatibility is coming to PS$ with 3.00?

There's no link to prove the cell makes it impossible.

Amateurs have created a working emulator on PC. If Sony really wanted to include one they could.
so an emulator that barely works past the title screen, has probably very very little games that actually runs in a fully playable state is your definition of working?? No wonder Xbox one is fine to you.

They all start out that way.

Point is it works, and it was done by armatures.

You gone tell me Sony can't outdoo a bunch of college students with their own hardware?

No nikka, it does not work. Why the hell would Sony release an unstable emulator that barely plays games?? That's nonsense man. Until it's in a fully playable state with 95% or greater compatibility, it isn't realistic to announce or have out. Also the PS4 isn't a super computer so comparing the progress of an emulator on an open platform to a closed platform is faulty. I'd rather they come out with a ps3 emulator that works with some games 100% than to come out with one that works with barely anything 30%.

Can you read?

You once again can't read between the lines.
No answer huh?

I think I know why that is:francis:

Why is it so hard to believe it's a fiscal decision? They are in the business of making money. It's not even a bad thing that they don't want to spend the significant resources for a minimal return. That's good business

Who said anything about it not being a fiscal reason? I sure didn't because hell I said many times that Sony and pretty much most publishers/devs are in the business of selling.

A fiscal plan for PS3 compatibility doesn't negate technical issues. I'm willing to bet they'll allow existing digital titles to work seeing as how they did so with PS1/PSP games on the Vita. Physical disc emulation seems plausible too. I can't imagine a PS3 emulator being released on ps4 where users are charged for games they already own. That would be a pr nightmare.

I'm not an engineer but from what I read it seems like an impossibility at this point without brute force which isn't possible on Ps4. That explains why you'll most likely see a emulator on pc before PS3. I know you know this but you're just meaching as usual for no reason.

The working emulator does not need a beast PC.

You've read nothing from the people actually doing this stuff. Only forum guys defending sonys honor
