People have been paying $1000+ for both consoles. Check around.
And you're listing random parts as if everyone knows how to put them together. The average person would much rather pay $499 for an "inferior" Steambox than have to worry about building a gaming PC. Or even having to research what would be a good rig. Steambox does all that for you.
This is the exact same reason consoles continue to flourish despite being obviously inferior to PCs.

I gotta disagree. There's a massive disconnect between the games that are actually popular world-wide, and what The Coli considers popular.
I'll give an example. "Dragon Quest" never gets talked about on here. Over in Japan it's Michael Jackson status. They literally change release dates because if it drops any other day besides the week end their society grinds to a halt.

Exactly I'd buy a steam box because of the form factor and it's already made...I have no interest in building a PC...I wanted something ready made I can put on a tv.
Of course there is a disconnect. But what im saying is why would we give a shyt about something thats popular if its not something we are interested in? Saying the PC platform is extremely popular and then counting off the player numbers for those strategy games holds no weight here. None.
Its like bringing up soccer numbers in the US. We dont care!

What I'm saying is it doesn't matter if you don't care. It's not as if Valve is saying "let's market this to people that don't give a fukk". There is a vast market that exists completely independent of whether or not you care about it.
The average console gamer don't give a fukk about Steam either, but 65 million people use it, more than Xbox Live. If Valve operated solely on who doesn't care about them they wouldn't be a multi-billion dollar company.

Pc exclusives are strategy games...the days of Pc's getting First Person shooter experiences not found on consoles are over...the market that buys games don't play strategy games or MMO's
only justification is prettier multi-plats but its not really worth the hassle of dealing with games not working all the time because of driver issues and extra price of entry in my opinion

People are paying $1000 for either console. One console. Like I said, check around. This happens every time a new console drops, and there's a shortage.
65 million people use Steam. Do you think they're all computer wizards that built their own rigs? Hell no. So what are you talking about? There's a decent chunk of people that would like to get into PC gaming, and don't know enough to build their own. We answer questions from these types of people all day, on this very board. That's who this is catered to.
