I'm not familiar with the Carson Palmer situation.

Real talk I think they need to start implementing a way players like Calvin and Barry to be able leave their teams after a certain amount of time spent. Call it an "incompetence" clause or something. If a franchise player has a certain amount of accolades and the team fails to meet their goals (playoff appearances, number of wins) the contract can be voided or something.

i like this because unlike the NBA, NFL player careers aren't that long so it's not like you have to worry about a shytload of players invoking this, plus salary cap keeps dudes on the move as well. but the NFLPA aint got the clout to pull this off
