The Celtics drafted Cedric Maxwell in 77 and Bird in 78. They traded the #1 overall pick for Parish and McHale. They also later traded for Dennis Johnson, etc.

These teams were built through good trades and drafting primarily, it's totally different from now

I wouldn't. What they've got right now works. Klay and Draymond have proven to be reliable and non-injury prone. AD, Steph, and KD is jinxing a major injury waiting to happen. Plus what would be the point? Your losing a lot on defense and what do you actually gain offensively?

My only thing about this is so was LeBron supposed to stay on a team that couldn't put any talent around him? I'm sure if he was on a team competent enough to get him a Lamar Odom & Pau Gasol or able to draft like the Warriors, OKC and build him a superteam he would have stuck around. But they couldn't. We're talking about a team that wouldn't trade JJ Hickson and drafted Anthony Bennett

You're mixing up GMs, different people made those different decisions. It's one thing to leave, it's another thing to do what he did and join up with Bosh and Wade like that and create their own superteam. Like it's one thing for KD to leave, but to join GSW? That's what makes it really bad.

Kareem joined a 30-52 LA team and they weren't a real threat until they drafted Magic in 1980.

Regardless of LeBron, comparing the teams of today to the Celtics/Lakers of the 1980s is silly.

Lol @ Anthony Davis being "injury prone" and "unable to stay healthy". Dude has never once missed more than 20 games in a season in his career due to injury, yet people in here are acting like he's Rose post-ACL tear. Rate of injury isn't that important if it's not serious injuries that are being dealt with
