dog. theres been a gazillion bone vs wutang threads. i remember the online hip-hop community revolved around bone thugs vs wutang.

bone was def more popular. its just like pac vs big. wutang & biggie had the east, but pac & bone had the rest of the country.

now when you talk outside entities like the burbs & overseas, they both have that. the difference is that wutang advertises their overseas following. same thing with the legacies. wutang had/has their business together and the media in their back pocket but niccas know the real deal.

make a thread and as always on here, half of it will be about how wutang got no play in ***insert poster's*** hood.:sas1:

you have a great point there, cats would be going back and forth all day. WU was deep in multiple hoods though World wide with the affiliates .They had camps here in the D. Still do currently with Bronze Nazareth and his peoples.

yea they had affiliates all over, but how many of them were actually poppin?:sas2:

mo thugs has affiliates all over as well. you dont see bone fans dwelling on them or bone's overseas success, because they dont have to.

That's where Bone messed up to me, branching out watered down their quality. That cowboy stuff was wack. Krayzie was the RZA of Bone to an extent, but the success wasn't the same. It seemed like they tried to follow the WU blueprint though.

how did they try to follow the wu blueprint?:why:

and of course the success wasnt the same. because bone had more success than them. if you just look at the results and ignore the hype, you would see it clearly breh. and say what you want about ghetto cowboy but that chit was #1 on the rap charts. wutang affiliates never came close to that. hell, wutang themselves havnt even been there too much.

and talking expansion, krayzie wasnt even apart of mo thugs by that point. im talking about when layzie with all these west coast & down south cats. most of them probably are affiliated with him for reasons outside of rap anyway.

no similarity to what wutang was doing dog.

wutang had their business together and better marketing. add the media's favoritism to them, and we're basically taught that they were some untouchable entity. the older we got tho, the more alot of that chit became kinda :rudy:. theyre still one of the goat crews but some of that chit was smoke-n-mirrors breh.

Core unit branching out to subsidiaries. That was the blueprint. How exactly was Bone more popular than WU? Record sales doesnt always equate to being the most popular. WU had the gear/ clothing, video games, cats biting slang and beat production, movie roles and production, folks male and female were getting WU tattoo's. WU had affiliations music wise and outside of it as well. Even on the record sales tip the WU has an argument there. Popularity wise its not even close imo.

most of that stuff youre talking equates to great marketing, connections & business, like i said in my previous post dog. and who cares about acting? when did that become a pre-requisite? lol.

youre harping on slang, but bone had more influence on MUSIC.

beat production? u-neek planted the seeds to stuff thats still prominent today.

wu has absolutely no argument with record sales breh. stop it. and low-key ALOT of artists have affiliations music-wise and outside of it. so what?

how is it not close popularity wise when they werent even as popular as bone? and you couldnt even put up an argument. youre just going back to repeating bold statements that got rejected already. stop it slime.

the core unit branching out to subsidiaries wasnt planned. mo thugs was layzie's and niccas wanted they own since they werent getting a cut like that. it has nothing to do with what wutang was doing. lol.

I don't know what else to say here. When talking about popularity there are additional factors that play a part, it's more than music. I thought it was common knowledge WuTang is more popular.:patrice: I even admitted at one point Bone had things on fire for minute and were more popular for a stint. ..but legacy and longevity wise WU is more popular, even to this day. I'll check for some threads though to see other opinions :manny:. I'm a fan of both groups, I prefer WU and I'm sure it's swaying my opinion a bit. I'm going to need more convincing on the matter.

all of what I mentioned started from the classic music wutang put out though. They had influence over different genres of music sound wise. They would not have been able to obtain that marketability without being popular on a music level first.
