Rusev is temporarily out of WWE action with a knee injury, Dave Meltzer is reporting on Wrestling Observer Radio.
The injury occurred at the house show in Bossier City, Louisiana, on Saturday night. Rusev did the job to Ryback, but there was no obvious injury at the time. Meltzer believes it is a minor one, and there’s a chance that the Bulgarian Brute may be back in the Royal Rumble match.
Rusev has proved to be injury prone in the past. He missed time last spring with a leg injury, which also occurred in a match he had against Ryback. He returned in the summer, but then went out injured again in the autumn, after suffering a biceps injury.
His latest injury won’t be too much of a blow to WWE, as they didn’t have much going on with him other than his League Of Nations role. Meltzer actually joked that Rusev was better off injured than being at Raw, where the League Of Nations were being made to look like geeks and getting destroyed by Brock Lesnar.
While the company injury list is certainly adding up, only the losses of John Cena and Seth Rollins have been real blows to WWE. Rusev is an interchangeable mid-card heel, and fans barely even noticed his absence on Raw this week.
