It’s the Coli

A lot of posters have goldfish memories or proudly don’t reside in reality.
Most definitely. I recall in 2018 and 2019, Russ was a sacred cow on here. Same ppl that said he was a no doubt, first ballot HOFer, now act like he waa never one of those marquee guys. His stature was so high, that he barely got criticism for the SB int to lose the game. Ppl love gossip, so when his teammates start.bashing him, they ate it up. Long term, it has shifted the perception of him in a very negative way.

I hope he does well for Pittsburgh

Great Black coach. Proper NFL heritage team and they aren’t far away from being great.

Alot more mobile than Big Ben, but point taken. McNabb stopped running, but he was great runner, early. Not just an escape artist/play extender. He had several 100 yard games. Culpepper/McNair busy with their legs, too. Obviously Vick took it to the next stratosphere, though. MJ took dunking and creativity to different heights, doesnt change that fact that Dr..J and David Thompson influenced that.
Kordell Stewart was also around then. Slash was probably the most explosive athlete to play QB before Vick arrived

No. I have no problem with Russ. Just don't agree with how he views his impact.
The LEGION of BOOM was an all time great defense who poured it on the Broncos in the Super Bowl, so I don't see how Russ being the starting QB on that team broke any barriers.

You mention the other QBs who won MVPs as breaking barriers but ignore that I mentioned the first, Air Mcnair.

Russ was an effective QB, versatile and made excellent reads. Seahawks continued to be in the playoff hunt after the LoB was no more. That's directly because of his QB play, but their run as serious contenders was over.

Mcnair was the real deal, and McNabb's NFC title game streak helped to impact Black QBs getting looks and shots during their career peaks more than Russ playing with LoB and Beastmode.

You're confusing the argument. This has nothing to do with LoB or the team dynamics of the Seahawks.

Russ was the second black QB to win a Super Bowl. To act like that wasn't impactful is ridiculous. Had he not done that they'd still be saying black QB's can't win it all until Patrick came along.

And I'm tired of people acting like he was trash. His stats that Superbowl winning season:

3357 yds 26 TD 9 Int

Rushing: 539 yds 1 TD

He was 10th in passing TD's and he'd be around 10th in yards if you add in rushing.

Those are great numbers considering the offense wasn't build to be high scoring and he was only a second year starter.

Great call. Kordell was an amazing athlete. Probably couldve been a big time WR, if he stayed at it. Dude had a cannon, too. Cant believe I overlooked him. 1997 Kordell took the league by storm and was a pleasure to watch. He came along too, early. He would be sick in a post 2011 NFL. Imagine him running a read option, simplified reads with defense who arent allowed to brutalize you in nearly every play and situation.

Russ helped eased teams into drafting less than “look the part” qbs, while not being tall, mobile, and Black.

This is a copy cat league. To sit there and act as if a Kyler Murray or Lamar get true opportunities without Russell is :childplease:

Does that make him a Hall of Famer? No. But that’s how cacs and businesses operate. Proof of concept. Russ provided that

I think Lamar gets that chance Russ or not. Kyler doesn't as he also doesn't get picked #1 overall.

Sharpe weighs in

Ocho the only one making sense. What kids are taking inspiration from Joe Gilliam?

How Shannon gonna say they don't remember the second man to walk on the moon like that applies to sports? Every Super Bowl winner goes down in history and he's ignoring the 25 year gap between Doug and Russ.

He said Doug answered all the questions then named black QB's asked to play WR decades after Doug. Clearly Doug didn't solve the problem and get us to the current NFL climate.

"I think I opened doors" doesn't exclude everyone else who did. That's like Mecole saying, "I contributed to winning a ring" and saying he thinks he's more important than Mahomes.

Shannon been a Russ hater so I'm not surprised.

In regards to influence
Kids and young QBs->They always mention Vick, Cam, Mahomes, and Lamar
NFL front offices->I think Doug Williams, Cunningham, and Russ

It's the front office where the impact is most felt. Kids wanted to play like Vick and Randall but it's not what teams wanted so that style would get bypassed at draft time for pocket passers. It's a copy cat league but they need to see rings being won before going all in.

Russ winning meant we need to start getting more mobile at the position.

Teams didn't believe Patrick's off platform freelancing would work in the NFL. Him winning with that style made it easier for them to see Caleb being able to replicate that success.

Above the fray.

This has everything to do with LoB.
Rex Grossman almost rode an alltime defense to a ring, and Trent Dillfer did.
Russ did what be was asked to do, but the title contention window was based on LoB being the key factor

Doug Williams play in the Superbowl was the key factor in the victory, even though the Skins defense was stout that year and post season.

If you watch footage of the actual SB win, you'll see how much a factor the defense was for Seattle.

The three men I mentioned broke barriers greater than whatever Russ is patting himself on the back for.
Have a hard time believing that people are going for this.
