Not counting what we assume will be QBs going 1-3, the consensus is there are 2, possibly 3 starting level QBs. Penix, Nix, and to a lesser extent Rattler. Then let’s assume Cousins goes to Atlanta

So jobs that Fields would come in and start no question: Raiders, Broncos, Vikings. I’m not even including the Giants bc Daniel jones could beat him out

Penix and Nix will be drafted by 2 of those teams. Then, based on what I’m hearing about rattler, teams probably value him for free in the 3rd instead of giving up a third for fields (a team who’d let him sit like NY, or Seattle)

Then factor in that the remaining teams may not want fields. The league is split on him. So yea it could get shaky. Could end up a backup somewhere like Seattle or Jets

The young guy prob ain't it though. This is basically the Steelers doing what the Seahawks have done with Geno. The roster is good enough to win now, so you ride with the vet and then in a few years when it's time to pivot to a young QB, you have the pieces in place to make his job easier.

We have not had that in years. Pickett is sadly just not it. Mason came in the last few games and did what Kenny had not done in 2 years.

In a division that is QB loaded we can’t keep relying on our defense to pull rabbits out of their asses week in week out.

I am sure he turned down good deals to try and get a better deal, now it will bite him in the ass. I think it was legit. I watch Chris Simms he gives good insight. He said that scouts don’t really pour into all the tape until after the college season and around combine time. So I think the narrative of Caleb regressing and ‘imagine all you can build around Fields’ was a legit possibility ….until they watched the tape. That quickly shut rhat down and he is still very much an all time prospect.
