Yea this feels like it has to work or else major changes will occur. Prob talking about a complete rebuild at that point. I think Russ is a perfect fit though. And then you have to hope Pickett makes progress on the bench, for the future. Arthur Smith was a terrible HC but he can't possibly be a worse OC than the Steelers' last one. That should help Pickett too.

Good fit for him. How the fukk wasn't more teams calling Russ though? You literally getting a proven starter and potential hall of famer for the same price as a special teams player.

I feel like there were other teams interested, Giants and Patriots were interested as well. Russ probably had his pick, hence why this deal happened so early in the process, many of the other available QBs are still available.

Only thing I wonder about is Smith's offense is heavy on middle of the field passes which Russ struggles with. Maybe the players/environment result in him improving in that regard, maybe the offense shifts to include things Russ feels good about too. But that's the thing to watch.
