hes not taking the minimum, his contract has no bearing for new teams, that money was already paid and owed to wilson by denver
No
It will be difficult for Wilson to make more than that $39 million this season even if he signs a deal with another club. His deal with the Broncos contains offset language, meaning that if Wilson signs with another team, Denver would subtract Wilson's earnings from his new team from what it owes him.

For example, if Wilson were to sign a fully guaranteed deal worth $10 million in 2024, the Broncos would owe him just $29 million for the season.
Whatever he takes from his new team Denver is off the hook for. If he takes $1 million (if possible) Denver pays him $38 million instead of $39 million. He can basically play this coming year for a team for the closest to nothing possible.

He's going to go to some team and likely make them a contender because he can take a minimum contract and grant them a lot of flexibility to sign others. Denver is so generously paying his salary. He could go to the Steelers and instantly upgrade them at QB.
In what universe is 2024 Russ making any team a contender I don’t care if you pay him 20 dollars :mjlol:

He's better than a rookie QB and can get a rookie QB like deal so a team with cap space can make a mad push in free agency. It's not that his talent alone is making them a contender it's that he's a more than serviceable QB and on a team friendly deal he gives the right team some flexibility.

Why fire his agent? He's getting guaranteed money. What NFL team is gonna let a player they release double dip?

The typical rookie qb sucks, him being better than that makes no team a contender.

You brought up the Steelers, they got blown out by a Bills team that didn’t even make the AFC title game. Russ making that team a contender for what exactly?

Yeah. I agree. For some reason though, I really don't think Russ sucks. I think it was just a poor fit. He needs to go to a team that is going to run the Seattle offense.

Pitt, Atlanta, Titans, Patriots, Commanders and Raiders are realistic destinations.

I saw somewhere a couple of weeks ago that he could take a minimum deal somewhere bc he's already getting paid regardless and he could possibly take a minimum deal so the team he chooses could build around him.

Basically the only way he can make more than $39 million is if another team pays him over that amount freeing Denver from paying him for the season. Because what he makes next year is pretty much capped at $39 million it makes no sense for him to take a penny more than he has to to sign a deal with a new team. Denver screwed him so let them pay almost all his salary.

It's exactly how San Francisco got Randy Gregory. He has 0 cap hit this year and next because San Fran is paying the minimum amount and Denver is basically paying his entire salary to play for another team. Denver is beyond dumb amd they're about to do it again. Since he's already costing them an arm and a leg they should keep him on the roster, they aren't getting from under that salary and he could at least be a backup, it's what SF did with Jimmy G pretty much.
