This is a byproduct of a generation growing up in an economy that keeps giving to the rich and taking from the poor while opportunity to better your life continues to shrink. It breeds apathy and despair. More than a third of people 18-34 still live at home and are stuck working low paying dead end jobs. Most are just looking for any sort of distraction from a day to day existence that offers little chance of anything rewarding or meaningful. Politics is one of the first things they look to get away from. They need something to inspire them. Hopefully saving a democracy will be enough.
